Everyone knows that a traditional felt flat roof, unless you are very lucky, will only last around ten years or so, after which time you should be thinking about replacing it and finding a suitable contractor to carry out the work. When choosing someone for the job you should always check their previous work and if possible talk to previous customers. You should ensure that they are members of a recognised trade federation and that they have the ability and experience to carry out the work satisfactorily. They should offer a good guarantee, preferably with insurance backing. If they don’t tick all the boxes and most importantly if you don’t feel comfortable with them then our advice is to keep looking. At Freedom Fibreglass Roofing we have a wealth of fibreglass flatroofing experience; you will have seen our display stands in various Norwich garden centres for nearly 14 years. |

Fibreglass, sometimes referred to as GRP (glass reinforced polyester) is formed in situ by reinforcing polyester resins with an emulsion bound chopped strand mat and fully bonded to 18mm of WBP Plywood. It can be used for domestic and commercial roofs, balconies and walkways, valleys and gutters or to simulate lead or other traditional finishes. Fitted by trained professionals it forms a joint free laminate that will outlast virtually any other traditional roofing material. |

Cutting Corners Costs ££££ Sacred Heart Catholic Church at North Walsham in Norfolk thought they had solved their flat roof problems when they had the roof coated with GRP in around 2000/2001. The company they chose decided not to remove the coping stones from around the edges and the GRP system appeared to have been laid by rather inexperienced workers. The roof continued to leak around the edges and showed signs of 'pin holing' in some areas. The company could not be traced in order to claim on their guarantee. Freedom Fibreglass Roofing removed the coping stones and encapsulated the parapet wall with Fibreglass and carried out the necassary repairs to the whole roof's surface ensuring the roof will remain watertight for at least 25 years -- guaranteed, with additional insurance backing. |
